Two kevels arrived in time for the rainy season. They are used to lash boats and rafts on with ropes or lanyards.
These were obtained from a pier that was being modernized and refurbished. They are still attached to the chunks of the hardwood they were originally on. I am placing these on the floor of the rear porch, behind my captain's cabin bedroom.
Kevels are talismanic, protective symbols of the goddess of the sea and her son the god of iron.
Never place them on an upper floor--that would be tantamount to asking the sea to rise to that level.
