The biggest failure of our government is that, when it must inconvenience the people or require them to make sacrifices, it gives them no compensation or cause for happiness in return.

It is the same failure of broadcast companies when they do "outreach" to disaster victims. They apply mere Band-Aid strips to very large wounds, at the same time making sure that they have good photo-ops.

When victims' houses on the seaside and round erupting volcanoes and in blazing fires are completely destroyed, do NOT send them mosquito nets and clowns and art teachers and clothes that you yourselves would not wear. Help them relocate permanently in houses and lots that are safe and very far away from the disasters they experienced.

You can afford it but you don't want to do it, because there is still too much that you want for yourself. Permanent solutions also ensure that there will be no more victims, and it is quite evident that you like giving out temporary solutions so that the victims can be victims all over again and you will once more be seen extending "help" to them.
