Angelique bought several glasses of milk tea at the neighborhood I Love Milk Tea fountain.

Walked to the Sitio Catacutan bakery and bought two bags of hamburger buns and two loaves of sliced, white bread.

There were fewer people out at this time of the afternoon, and most of them were homeless. Tried to pretend, once again, that I was walking round Crystal City, Virginia with no vehicles on the road, but I just couldn't pull it off. I suddenly realized why, in normal times, we opt to clutter our environment with people. It is for the visual chaos to mask the glaring imperfections around us: uneven roads, undeveloped pavements, vandalized walls, electrical wiring like suspended Gordian knots, litter that the garbage people didn't bother to pick up, exteriors badly in need of extensive cleaning and repainting, rusted steel, weather-beaten wood, everything screaming out loud for upgrading. If not to the 21st century, at least to the mid-20th.
