Actually I'm confused. Why are we celebrating 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines AND the slaying of Ferdinand Magellan--who represented colonialism--by Lapulapu? In the first place, was Magellan a skilled fighter? Did he die in combat or was he simply assassinated? And why did we end up a Christian country at the end of the day?  

Which was the more substantial triumph?
