Looking back over my 71 years, I know that I would never want to go back to the age of nine. I remember that age as one of great confusion for me. Sex and sexuality were already roiling within me, yet my body wasn't ready for any of it. The energy manifested in drawing and writing--rather than was diffused in sports, as for other boys-- and I became somewhat manic, as though I had severe attention deficit disorder.

I have a suspicion that I subconsciously regress to that age whenever I am writing and drawing. Minus the manic urges now, of course..
