Our Sunday mahjong session is interrupted by the arrival of a second kilo of sweet lanzones, the tropical fruit of October.

I am always reminded of that story in the _Philippine Readers_ series about the Christ Child, who cried because the lanzones fruit He tasted was sour. The Blessed Virgin then pinched the fruit, rendering it sweet. That is why, according to legend, the lanzones fruit bears marks of the Blessed Virgin's fingernail to this very day.

When I was resident playwright of the Ateneo Children's Theatre, director Yani Singson went out of his way to schedule a meeting with editor Camilo Osias I never knew, however, what ever came of that meeting.
