Watched "Headache" from Grimm. Kenneth and the Verrat take over a neighbor's house in front of Nick's house so that they can wait there for Nick's mother and the baby to arrive in response to Juliette's false e-mail message. Nick's mother and the baby do arrive. The Verrat kill Nick's mother. Prince Kenneth and Juliette drive away with the baby to bring her to Germany.
Meanwhile, Nick and Hank consult Adelind about Captain Renard's psychotic fugues. Adelind determines that, when Captain Renard died and his mother brought him back to life, he took something back with him. They deduce that it is the spirit of Jack the Ripper who is with Captain Renard, and that Captain Renard, taken over by the spirit, murdered all those women during his blackouts.
Rosalee mixes a potion that will render Captain Renard temporarily dead. Nick, Hank, and Monroe watch as Rosalee administers the potion to Captain Renard, saying that it will merely bring back his memory. The group stages a situation in which they Nick, Hank, and Sergeant Wu shoot Captain Renard with rubber bullets. Thinking that Captain Renard is dead, the spirit of Jack the Ripper leaves him. Captain Renard's scars disappear, and he is completely cured.
We now see that Trubel has come back and has been spying on Nick's house. Seeing Verrat there, she goes to the spice shop and asks Nick and Hank to accompany her back to the house. When they get there, the house is empty. There is a box on the floor. When Nick opens it, he sees that it contains the decapitated head of his mother.
Love that the murder of Nick's mother is all off-screen, with the camera remaining on Juliette as she listens and watches.
This episode showcased sensitive performances by David Giuntoli and Bitsie Tulloch.
