I observe that the women of my particular generation are the most helpless, especially in times of crisis. These are the women who were brainwashed from girlhood to turn their backs on sewing, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. They were also brainwashed to believe that the most dignified jobs an ordinary woman could apply for were classroom teaching and working as a corporate secretary.
By the same token the men of my generation were brainwashed to turn their backs on farming, planting, raising livestock, doing a mechanic's work, and plumbing. They were also brainwashed to believe that the most dignified jobs ordinary men could apply for were professional basketball and working as a cog in the corporate world.
Alas, their parents all thought that urban progress would be quick and smooth, and that we would never go back to primitive times.
At any rate the generation after me was worse. Everyone was conditioned to want to be in entertainment and show business.
