Always spoil your daughters and your granddaughters. That way they will choose to get married only to men who will treat them as well as you do, or even better. Or, if they choose not to get married, they will seek occupations that will enrich them and enable them to spoil themselves. 

I note that daughters and granddaughters who are not treated well at home decide to marry any Tom, Dick, or Harry who comes along just to escape the miserable situation they are in.
