Our house used to be completely Western. Only when we changed everything to Filipiniana and Asian art, 30 years ago, did our home really feel like a home, and only then also did foreign visitors admire it.

I can sympathize with the foreign visitors. There is nothing so dismaying to them as walking into Filipinos' "American" houses, "Italian" churches, or "French" ateliers.
