Few people will remember that, in the 1960s, men were hesitant to carry umbrellas because they considered it a woman's accessory. It was also unheard of for them to wear red, orange, and pink. As years went by and poverty set in, men had to abandon these concepts of image and make do with what was available to them. And so, yes, poverty is a great gender equalizer.
