Years ago the ceramic potter hosted lunch and then gave each guest a small bowl from her kiln. Unfortunately I noted that every bowl was a reject, having fissures, being over-fired, and containing many flaws.

I thought it was very distasteful of her to have done that.

The lesson: If you are an artist, never give your trash to fellow artists.
