A basket of white orchids and two baskets of white Shasta daisies on our family altar and columbary, a great advantage to living within walking distance of Farmers Garden. The altar is an antique, narra, commoda, or priest's sanctuary cabinet. My sisters pitched in to buy it from an antique shop in Ermita to house our urns after our father passed away and his remains cremated. I ordered a polished, marble slab to top it.
A Venetian-style mirror hangs at the back of the altar, serving as a portal for ancestral spirits.
The statue of Michelangelo's Pieta came off a mold made in Italy. It was carefully calipered from the original statue.
The Saint Dominic angels were actually cast from the original statues that flank the tomb of Saint Dominic in Italy, also designed and executed by Michelangelo. I ordered them from Design Toscano many years ago.
My daughter Angelique's law school graduation sash is still draped on the shoulder of the male angel.
Didn't light the all-white Turkish wall lamps this time around.
