In a country where the quality of life is very low, it is unwise to vote for highly-educated and smooth-talking intellectuals as political leaders. They will spout forth rationalizations in the name of democracy but will do nothing to raise the quality of other people's lives--except their own lives and the lives of  their relatives, friends, and former classmates--not only because they will not, but most especially because they cannot.
