Watching snatches of a punk-rock version of Jesus Christ Superstar on HBO. Interesting, especially the casting. I note that one problem with this musical has always been that, when a character is singing, everyone else on stage has no choice but to be part of a still tableaux or to dance.

The other problem is that, acting-wise, the transitions between emotions are awkward and often abrupt, and that is because the music is comprised of individual and varied songs strung together as though for a CD album.
